Our promise

Memoir is built around something simple: your life is yours.

We collect only what we need to provide the service, make it useful, and keep it safe. We do not sell your personal data. Ever.

What we collect

We collect the information you give us directly, such as your name, email address, account details, memories, notes, uploads, recordings, and other content you choose to add.

We may also collect technical information such as device type, app version, log data, and basic usage information so we can run and improve Memoir.

If you choose to connect other services, we may access information from them with your permission. This may include (among others):

Calendar

Events, titles, times, dates, and related details needed to help you remember plans and moments.

Photos

Selected images, metadata, and timestamps so Memoir can help you organize and revisit meaningful memories.

Location

Approximate or precise location, only if you allow it, to help add context to memories, visits, and life events.

How we use your data

We use your information to provide Memoir's features, including capturing, organizing, recalling, and surfacing memories and reflections.

We also use it to personalize the experience, improve the product, provide support, maintain security, and communicate important service updates.

If we use aggregated or de-identified data to improve Memoir, we do so in a way that is not intended to identify you personally.

How AI is used in Memoir

Memoir uses artificial intelligence to help organize, summarize, and surface your memories. We want to be transparent about how this works.

Where the AI runs

Memoir's AI features are powered by third-party AI providers, currently OpenAI. When you add a memory, the relevant content may be sent to these providers so they can process it and return a result.

What happens to your content

Your data is never used to train AI models. This is a default protection that applies to everything we send. AI providers may temporarily retain content for safety and abuse-monitoring purposes, in line with their standard policies.

How we minimize what's shared

We do not send your name or account details with your content. Requests are tied only to an anonymous identifier so the AI provider has no way to associate the content with you personally. Your account information, login details, and the broader memory archive are stored separately, in encrypted infrastructure that we control.

A note on context

Your memories may sometimes include the names or details of other people in your life. When that content is processed, those details are included in the request. We are continuously working to reduce what leaves our servers and to strengthen the protections around AI processing — including pursuing additional data-handling agreements with our AI providers.

If you have questions about how AI is used with your data, you can always reach us at hello@memoirllm.com.

We never sell your data

We do not sell your personal data.

We do not trade it, rent it, or hand it over to advertisers for profit.

Your memories are not an ad product.

Third-party connections

If you connect third-party services like Calendar, Photos, location services, or others, we only access the data needed to provide the feature you turned on.

You can disconnect these connections at any time through your device settings, account settings, or the third-party provider where applicable.

Your use of those third-party services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Data deletion and your rights

Delete your data anytime

This is a core promise of Memoir: you can ask us to delete your data.

You may request deletion of specific content, your connected data, or your entire account at any time through the app or by emailing us at hello@memoirllm.com.

When you delete content or request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable period, unless we need to keep limited information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or compliance reasons.

If some data cannot be deleted immediately from backups, we will protect it and remove it in the normal backup cycle.

Your control

You can access, update, or delete your information, subject to applicable law.

You can also revoke permissions for Calendar, Photos, and Location (or others) through your device or account settings.

How we protect data

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information.

That said, no system in the world is completely risk-free, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — just like no company in existence can.

How long we keep data

We keep your data only as long as needed to operate Memoir, provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If you delete your account, we will begin the deletion process described above.

Children

Memoir is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country, unless permitted by law. If we learn we collected data from a child without proper authorization, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If we make a material change, we will provide notice through the app, by email, or by other appropriate means.
